Located in Fontainebleau, the Geosciences and Geoengineering Department (a research structure common to MINES ParisTech and ARMINES) focuses on research and teaching activities in the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences.

Research activities focus on three major social issues : supply of mineral resources - hydrocarbon - geothermy ; effect of anthropisation - underground storage of energy or wastes ; and impacts of climate change - water resources - natural hazards - geomorphology.

The department is divided into six research units that cover most of the Earth Science topics. It benefits important experimental facilities.

In parallel to its research activities, the department also manages several teaching cycles, in the frame of the formation of MINES ParisTech civil engineere, doctoral cycles (accreditated in doctoral schools) as well as specialized and continuing trainings.
